Chris Priest

Chris Priest is a writer whose work is sometimes difficult to categorise: science fiction, fantasy, mainstream, or all of the above? Bruce Sterling coined the term "slipstream" to describe writing which crossed genre-boundaries, and it certainly applies to Priest.

He has been writing full-time since 1968 and has been nominated for and won numerous awards including the BSFA Award and World Fantasy Award. Notable novels include "The Inverted World", "The Space Machine", "A Dream of Wessex" and "The Prestige". Short stories include "An Infinite Summer".

Claire North

Catherine Webb was educated at the LSE and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She completed her first book, "Mirror Dreams", at the age of 14, and has written a number of other YA books.

She also writes adult fantasy under the name of Kate Griffin, and science fiction under the name of Claire North. So we get 3 guests for the price of one!

As well as writing more than 20 novels and novellas, she also has a Proper Job, that of lighting designer/technician for music gigs.

Emma Newman

Emma Newman is a writer of fantasy and sf, podcaster and audiobook narrator. She has published eleven novels and s short-story collection. "Between Two Thorns" (2013) was nominated for the BFS Award for best novel and "After Atlas" (2016) for the Clarke Award.

She is the co-creator, along with her husband Peter, of the Hugo Award winning podcast "Tea and Jeopardy" which revolves around her hosting another creator for tea, while her scheming butler Latimer (played by Peter Newman) tries to kill them!

Emma's hobbies include LARP and dressmaking.

Chris (Fangorn) Baker

Chris (Fangorn) Baker

Chris Baker is also known professionally as Fangorn and his work is often displayed in convention art shows.

In a varied career he has produced fine art, game covers for Games Workshop, magazine covers including "White Dwarf", and many covers for the "Redwall" children's fantasy books by Brian Jacques.

Graphic novels include David Gemmell's "Legend" and "Wolf in Shadow". Chris has also worked with the likes of Stanley Kubrick and Tim Burton as a concept/storyboard artist. His films include "Skyfall", "Corpse Bride", "A.I.", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Eyes Wide Shut".
