Alice Lawson on Hotel Refurbishment

Arriving at the hotel I was curious to see the refurbishment. I thought perhaps new carpet, some walls painted and maybe some new sofas.

I was not expecting to see a very different lounge area.

As some of you may remember the lounge had couches and coffee tables around the bar area and then down some steps to a central area with lots of wood which could feel a bit heavy and dark.

The lounge is now all one level and is very spacious, airy and bright. Walls are white with modern art placed around. New red leather couches and black leather seats are scattered around new coffee tables. There are also some round high tables with yellow leather high seats. The lounge also has glass walls at both ends, which lets lots of light through adding to the feeling of space. (pictures)

The bar and restaurant  (pictures) have also been done up and some bedrooms have been decorated and new pillows and bedding provided (pictures). Next year they plan to fully refurbish 150 bedrooms and bathrooms.

The hotel registration area and the hall has also been done up and there is a new office to the left as you enter the foyer which we will use for con reg. (pictures)

The pool and Jacuzzi are fully functional. The area looked very clean. There is no longer any staff supervising the pool. If you use it you sign at registration and leave £2 as a deposit for locker and towel. This is refunded when key and towel are returned.

I like the new look. I hope that you will like it too.
